Basketball: Breakers lose 93-88 to 36ers

The New Zealand Breakers basketball season has ended with a 93-88 loss to the Adelaide 36ers across the Tasman.

The Breakers playoff dreams had been effectively dashed on Friday night when the Townsville Crocodiles beat the Hunter Pirates.

The Breakers were leading by a point with 90 seconds remaining but couldn't quite finish their season on a high.

Mike Chappell topped the scoring for the Breakers with 31 points.

The Breakers ended their season with 12 wins and 21 losses, finishing 10th out of the 12 teams in the competition.
