The Breakers went down 104-100 to the Wollongong Hawks yesterday to take a one-from-two record in pre-season at the opening weekend for the Trusts Stadium in West Auckland.
A Pero Cameron three-shot attempt came back off the hoop when the score was 102-100 and a free-throw from a foul produced the last points for the visitors.
On Saturday the Breakers beat Hunter 86-79, with new buy Shawn Redhage getting 19 points. Redhage backed that up yesterday with 25 as best for the Breakers. American Darnell Mee top-scored with 27 for the Hawks.
Cameron was well involved both days with 13 points plus six assists and six rebounds on Saturday as former Breakers centre Ben Melmeth top-scored with 21, the Breakers captain scoring 18 yesterday.
Tomorrow the Breakers play the Adelaide 36ers at New Plymouth before they tip the new Australasian NBL season off at Trusts Stadium on September 29.
Coach Frank Arsego was pleased with the big improvement between the two games.
