Another transtasman trophy was unveiled yesterday - the Bondi Shield is up for grabs between the New Zealand Breakers and Sydney Kings basketball teams.
The shield, designed by Kings centre and part-time cartoonist Brett Wheeler, will be awarded to the team with the superior record each season the teams meet in the Australian NBL.
The shield sports caricatures of a kangaroo and kiwi with boxing gloves on.
The Kings are poised to become the inaugural holders should they beat the Breakers at the Sydney Entertainment Centre tonight.
The sides meet three times this season, with the Kings already 1-0 ahead after winning 93-83 in Auckland on December 27.
If the Breakers upset the defending champions tonight, the shield would be on the line on February 14 when the sides again meet in Sydney.
