The revamped eight-team ANBL will begin on September 24 when the Breakers host the Cairns Taipans in Auckland. Basketball Australia yesterday announced a playing schedule of 20 rounds, with each team playing 28 games, 14 at home and 14 away, while facing each other four times. The top four at the end of the regular season will advance to the finals. The revised system for the post-season will see the No 1-ranked team playing the fourth seed and No 3 playing No 2 in a pair of best-of-three semifinals series. The winners of each semifinal between February 19-28 will then face off in the best-of-three grand final series between March 3-12.
