New York Yankees player Curtis Granderson was the star attraction at a baseball coaching clinic at St Kentigern College yesterday.
Granderson joined New Zealand coaches and players in teaching baseball skills to around 90 children. Today he will throw the ceremonial first pitch of the AA Oceania U16 Championships at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga. The four-day tournament features teams from New Zealand, Australia and Guam, with the winner qualifying for the IBAF U16 world championships in Mexico in August.
A Major League Baseball roadshow is being held with the tournament. Play begins at 10am. Admission is free.
