The New Zealand Diamondblacks' hopes of qualifying for next year's World Baseball Classic have come to an abrupt end after a 9-2 loss to South Africa.
The inexperienced New Zealand pitching staff wasn't able to shut down the South African bats and their own offense wasn't able to come up with the key hits in crucial moments.
Moko Moanaroa plated the two runs for the Diamondblacks - he and brother Boss Moanaroa were standouts throughout the four-day tournament.
South Africa and Australia will play for a place at the World Baseball Classic today.
