All the big guns safely survived the opening day of the Baseball New Zealand National Championships at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Auckland.
Defending champions Counties easily accounted for the Hamilton Raiders while competition heavyweights Howick-Pakuranga Hawks enjoyed a 5-0 win over Orewa.
The first games begin at 9am tomorrow and run through until Sunday's final.
