Boosted by his new deal with the New York Yankees, Rodriguez tops Major League Baseball's list with an annual salary of US$28 million ($36.05 million), an Associated Press study of contract terms found.
The 33 players on the Marlins' opening-day roster and disabled list total US$21.8 million. For the first time in history, the average player will earn US$3 million this year.
