Badminton: Rankin keeps her cool

Hard work had its rewards for Anna Rankin as she won the national under-23 badminton singles title in Wellington yesterday. The Southland 19-year-old trained intensively for the tournament in Malaysia and Indonesia recently.

She kept her composure to beat Aucklander Clare Chapple 18-21, 21-18, 21-7. The men's final was an all-Waikato affair, with Bjorn Seguin beating Michael Fowke 21-13, 21-17.
