Badminton player Michelle Chan was the best performer of the three New Zealanders at the Toulouse Open in France. Chan, New Zealand's No 2 ranked women's singles player, won her way through to the quarter-finals of the International Challenge event, offering US$15,000 in prizemoney, before succumbing to the No 2-seeded Canadian Anna Rice. Her teammates, Rachel Hindley and John Moody, lost in the last 16 and last 32 rounds respectively.
The three New Zealanders will head for training at the Badminton World Federation centre in Saarbruken, Germany, before joining their teammates in Glasgow on June 7 for the Sudirman Cup competition.
