New Zealand athlete Kimberley Smith has smashed another national record after finishing seventh at the world half marathon championship in Birmingham overnight.
Smith's time of one hour nine minutes and 35 seconds in wet, windy conditions was exactly 1min quicker than Nina Rillstone's record set in New York in August 2007.
The women's race was won by Kenya's Mary Keitany won in 1hr 06min 36sec ahead of compatriot Philes Ongori while Ethiopia's Aberu Kebede was third.
Eritrea's Zersenay Tadese won the men's title for the fourth year in a row with a time of 59min 35sec.
Tadese, who won world championship silver over 10,000m in August, took charge at the midway point and drove on to finish well clear of Kenya's Bernard Kipyego, who edged American Dathan Ritzenhein on the line.
Kenya won the team race for a fourth successive occasion.
