MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Olympic 100m hurdles champion Sally Pearson has appointed training partner Antony Drinkwater-Newman as her new coach after splitting with her previous coach for 14 years, Sharon Hannan.
The 27-year-old Pearson said Drinkwater-Newman was "the logical choice" to replace Hannan. She said she was "excited by the fresh ideas that Antony has developed and I know that we will work well together. Antony will be able to train beside me and that will be very special."
Pearson has been hampered by hamstring injuries this year but finished second behind American Brianna Rollins at the world championships at Moscow in August. Her main targets are the 2014 world indoor championships in Poland in March and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in July.
