Olympic champions Usain Bolt and Melanie Walker were named Jamaican athletes of the year. Bolt won gold medals in the 100m and 200m and 4x100m relay at the Beijing Games in August, all in world record times.
He was the first man to win the three Olympic events in a single games since Carl Lewis in 1984. Walker won the 400m hurdles in Beijing in an Olympic record 52.64s.
