Katrina Robinson overcame the disappointment of the 3000m final at the Under 20 World Championships in Finland with a quality performance in the heats of the 1500m to qualify for the final as the third fastest.
Running in the second of two heats, the Queensland-based 17-year-old ran at the back of the bunched field before making a big move on the last lap to finish third and book a place in Sunday nights final in the Finnish city of Tampare.
Robinsons experience from the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas where she won silver and bronze in the 3000m and 1500m respectively will stand her in good stead as she lines up in the 1500m final at these World Championships.
Lucy Sheat ran in in the 200m heats and finished ranked 28th, just outside the top 24 to advance to the semi-finals.
