Organisers may have to turn people away from the Auckland Marathon in two weeks time as entries reach record levels.
Event general manager Stephen Brown today said entries for the 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half-marathon, 10km and 5km walk events had topped 9000, a record for the event.
Entry numbers are being limited in the marathon and half-marathon due to constraints at the start and finish, on the course and on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
All Black rugby legend Jonah Lomu will fire the cannon to start the event on October 30 at Devonport.
