Ageless Kiwi runner Nick Willis has stormed to a record-equalling victory at the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York.
Willis beat off a large field to win the high-profile race for a fourth time, matching the deed of Spaniard Isaac Viciosa in the 1990s.
The 34-year-old unleashed a finishing kick to win in a slick three minutes 51.31 seconds, the ninth-quickest time in the 36-year history of the race.
Willis ran faster when winning in 2008. His other wins were in 2013 and 2015 while John Walker notched the only other win by a Kiwi, in 1984.
Two-time Olympic 1500m medallist Willis attributed victory to leaving his sprint until the last possible moment.
