SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) Bulgarian sprinter Tezdzhan Naimova has been banned for life and ordered to return her gold medal from the European indoor championships in March after her second doping offense was confirmed.
The 26-year-old Naimova tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid drostanolone after winning the women's 60-meter race at the European indoors in Goteborg, Sweden.
Bulgaria's athletics federation on Tuesday confirmed the charges and banned Naimova for life, annulled her results from the Goteborg championships and stripped her of her medal.
In March, Mariya Ryemyen of Ukraine came second, Myriam Soumare of France third, and Ivet Lalova of Bulgaria fourth.
In 2009, Naimova was banned for two years for manipulating a doping sample.
