Alem Techale, the 17-year-old fiancee of Olympic 10,000m champion Kenenisa Bekele, has died after collapsing during a training session in Ethiopia. Bekele's agent, Jos Hermens, said Techale collapsed while running with Bekele in a hilly area on the outskirts of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. Bekele carried Techale to his car, and she died en route to a hospital. The cause of death was not immediately known. The couple had planned to marry on May 8. Techale was the 1500m world youth champion in 2003.
