Nick Willis ran his second fastest ever mile to finish seventh in the Bowerman Mile at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meeting in the United States this morning.
Willis clocked 3 minutes 51.77 seconds at the meet in Eugene, Oregon - 0.18 seconds faster than his time at the same meeting last year but outside his personal best of 3:50.66, set in 2008.
The race was won by Beijing Olympic champion Asbel Kiprop from Kenya in 3:49.40. The world's fastest metric miler in 2012, Silas Kilplagat, could only finish thirteenth.
Meanwhile, Stuart Farquhar finished third in the javelin at the same meeting, throwing 82.23 metres with his first attempt to take an early lead.
Farquhar was unable to improve on the distance throughout the remainder of the competition, but his third place earned him one Diamond League point to leave him lying in fourth overall after two of seven rounds.
