Nick Willis finished fifth in the 1500m at the IAAF World Challenge meet in Croatia overnight as he looks to put the disappointment of a last-placed finish in the final of the recent world championships behind him.
The Olympic silver medallist finished in a tidy time of 3:34.10, but behind winner Kenyan Nixon Chepseba who clocked 3:30.94.
Usain Bolt, who was disqualified after a false start at the final of the world championships, took out the 100m in 9.85 seconds.
The final IAAF Diamond League meeting of the season, the Van Damme Memorial, will be held in Brussels on Friday night but no New Zealanders will be competing. Many Diamond League titles have already been determined, including the women's shot put, with Valerie Adams the clear winner.
