Kiwi middle-distance runner Nick Willis broke a national record in the 1500-metres event at the Diamond League meet in Monte Carlo today.
Willis finished seventh in the race, but posted a time of 3 minutes and 21.91 seconds, breaking a New Zealand and Oceania record.
The time was 0.44 of a second faster than Willis' previous record set at the same meeting two years ago.
Willis is set to compete in the 1500 and 5000-metre events at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
