Nick Willis finished fourth over 1500m in Carson, California, today in his first race since his gold medal-winning run over the distance at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
Willis clocked 3min 37.07sec at the adidas track classic meeting.
Another New Zealander, Jason Stewart, assisted with the pace making.
World champion Rachid Ramzi of Bahrain won the race in 3min 32.34sec.
Bernard Lagat of the US was second in 3min 32.94sec and Australia's Mark Fountain, third at the Melbourne games, was third in 3min 36.08sec.
