The New Zealand Warriors proved the sharpest on the track in the celebrity teams challenge relay at the Battle of the Cities athletic meeting at Massey Park, Papakura.
Motu Tony, Francis Meli, Henry Faafili and Clinton Toopi had the measure of the Auckland and North Harbour basketball teams to win the 4 x 90m dash in 48.36s on Saturday.
The Counties Manukau Cometz netball team won the women's relay in 56.36s.
April Brough had her final workout before attempting the secondary schools senior girls' sprint double in Hamilton next weekend, with victory over 100m in 12.12s.
Meanwhile, four-times New Zealand road champion Nyla Carroll won the women's section of the annual Waiatarua half-marathon yesterday. Carroll, running for Wellington Harriers but now based in Auckland, completed the downhill slog from the Scenic Drive to New Lynn in 1h 21m 19s. Dinesha Richardson was just 29s behind in second.
Seaton Meredith, of Pakuranga, won the men's event in 1h 7m 57s, over a minute ahead of Rotorua's Peter Handcock.
