Balancing speed and power has been a big part of Tom Walsh's preparation for the upcoming Northern Hemisphere track and field season.
The Olympic bronze medalist has been working with his nutritionist to put on more size to his 125kg frame.
Walsh says it's important that he puts on the right type of weight as weight translates to power.
However he says they are doing it specifically so it doesn't affect his rhythm, timing and speed in the throwing circle.
Walsh says most of his opponents have around an extra 15 centimetres in height and 20 to 25 kilograms in weight compared to himself
