New Zealand's world and Olympic champion, Valerie Vili, notched the third win of her tour of Brazil, taking out the women's shot put at the Brazil grand prix athletics meeting in Belem this morning (NZtime).
Vili, who has a career best of 20.69m set earlier this month, threw 20.25m to beat Belarussian Natallia Mikhnevich who had 19.89m. Cuba's Misleydis Gonzalez was third at 19.79m.
Vili, looking to defend her world title in Berlin in August, tops the women's shot put standings after four meets of the world athletics series this year with 40 points.
A distant second on 29 is Gonzalez with fellow-Cuban Mailin Vargas a point behind.
