New Zealand athlete Valerie Vili has been ranked the second best women's shot put exponent in the world by authoritative American magazine Track & Field News.
Vili had an outstanding year, winning the bronze medal at the world championships in Helsinki and finishing second in the IAAF world athletics final at Monaco.
She won the New Zealand and Australian shot put titles and set a New Zealand record in the shot put on five occasions.
The No 1 ranking in the magazine went to world champion Nadezhda Ostapchuk of Belarus.
New Zealand's Beatrice Faumuina was ranked fifth in the discus. Faumuina won the NZ and Australian discus titles and finished fourth at the world champs in Helsinki.
