New Zealand's Valerie Vili is one of 10 candidates for a world athletics award.
The 2007 shot put world champion has been nominated with nine others by the International Association of Athletics Federations for the female performance of the year.
Vili threw 20.54m to win the world championship title in Osaka, Japan, in August, bettering her previous best by 34cm.
The performance of the year, men and women, as well as the crowning of the 2007 world athlete of the year men and women will be presented at the annual global awards evening in Monaco on 25 November.
The other nominees for the women's performance of the year are Meseret Defar, of Ethiopia, American Allyson Felix, Yelena Isinbayeva, of Russia, Janeth Jepkosgei, of Kenya, Lornah Kiplaget, of Netherlands, Caroline Kluft, of Sweden, Sanya Richards, of the United States, Blanka Vlasic, of Croatia, and Russian Yekaterina Volkova.
