Valerie Vili was delighted to be back into competition at the IAAF meeting in Christchurch last night with a winning shot put of 18.32m.
All of Vili's throws were over 18 metres, and her winning throw was just three centimetres short of the A qualifying mark for the Osaka world championships in August. Vili's 20.20m has qualified her for the world champs.
Visiting American Kristin Heaston was second with 16.85m. Beatrice Faumuina threw her best distance this season of 62.20m to win the discus.
