New Zealand athletes Valerie Adams and Melina Hamilton failed to make their respective finals at the world indoor athletics championships in Budapest overnight.
Adams, from Auckland, finished 11th in the women's shot put but set an Oceania Area indoor record with her best put of 18.22 metres.
The event was won by Vita Pavlysh, a 35-year-old Ukrainian, who blasted out 20.39 metres in the second round and 20.49 in the fourth.
Svetlana Krivelyova of Russia, another veteran at 34, was second (19.90m) and Yumileidi Cumba of Cuba third (19.31m).
Adams last month won the Australian national championships in Sydney with an outdoor throw of 18.96m.
In the women's pole vault, Hamilton, who, like Adams, was in her first ever world indoor competition, posted her season's best vault of 4.2 metres, a New Zealand indoor record.
Her 16th placing was the best international pole vault result by a New Zealand woman.
