New Zealand runner Kimberley Smith will make her competitive debut over the half marathon distance on Sunday.
The Olympian will line up at the half marathon world championships in Birmingham, England, in a possible forerunner to a marathon career.
Smith, who finished eighth on the track in the 10,000m at the world athletics championships in Germany in August, has not run over the half marathon distance outside of some training sessions years ago in Auckland.
