New Zealand long-distance runner Kim Smith has been forced to withdraw from next month's world athletics championships in Moscow because of injury.
The US-based runner, who was set to race in the 10,000m, has been troubled by a foot injury and a sore Achilles tendon for the past month and has been resting it to allow a full recovery.
The injury hampered her training schedule at a crucial stage of her preparations and forced her to pull out of the meet. She hopes to be back racing in spring.
