New Zealand's Kimberley Smith was fourth in the 27th annual Fifth Avenue mile in New York, clocking 4m 25s. Smith was two seconds behind the winner Carmen Douma-Hussar of Canada.
Last year Smith was second in 4m 30.3s and in 2005 she finished eighth in 4m 31.9s. American Alan Webb won the men's mile in 3m 52.7s, beating defending champion Kevin Sullivan of Canada by two-tenths of a second.
