New Zealand athlete Kim Smith will look to put the heartache of Boston in the past after confirming her presence in the New York marathon on November 6.
She led for a large portion in Boston before a leg injury forced her withdrawal in April.
Now, she has New York on her mind where she plans to make two competitive appearances this season.
As well as the celebrated marathon in the city, Smith is to contest the New York Road Runners mini 10km event on June 11.
That race will represent her first competitive outing since Boston.
Smith, 29, originally from Auckland but based in the United States for a number of years, holds 12 New Zealand records at distances ranging from the 1500m to the marathon.
She set her country's best marathon time for a female of two hours 25 minutes 21 seconds in London last year.
"I can't wait to step on the line in November for the New York marathon," Smith said.
"I want to put my Boston marathon experience behind me and I hope to do that in New York.
"Marathon weekend in New York is so exciting and it is a lot of fun to be part of the buzz."
Among others confirmed for the race are Smith's training partner Molly Huddle, the US 5000m record holder, three-time Olympian Jen Rhines, of the US, and Kenya's defending champion Edna Kiplagat.
