New Zealand athlete Kimberley Smith finished seventh in an international 5000m race in Liege, Belgium.
Smith was clocked at 15m 12.11s, 12s behind the winner, Vivian Cheruiyot, of Kenya.
Her time was just over 6s outside the New Zealand national record she set in Stockholm a year ago.
Kate McIlroy, ranked No 4, is preparing for her first race on the European circuit, over the 3000m steeplechase, in Huesden, Belgium, on Sunday.
Another Commonwealth Games runner, Adrian Blincoe, will compete at the meeting over 5000m.
