Cuba's Dayron Robles upset Olympic 110m hurdles king Liu Xiang at the Paris Golden League athletics meeting on Friday.
The 20-year-old Robles, silver medallist over 60m hurdles at last year's world indoor championships, recovered from a false start to win in 13.13 seconds.
American Anwar Moore, a winner at the opening Golden League meeting in Oslo last month, finished second in the same time to drop out of the hunt for the million-dollar jackpot shared by those who win their event at all six showcase meetings.
China's Liu, the Olympic champion who has promised to beat his world record of 12.88 this year, had to be content with third place in 13.15.
World champion Ladji Doucoure of France was sixth in 13.27.
Sanya Richards won the 400m in 49.52 seconds, the fastest time this year, to stay in contention for the jackpot.
Fellow American Michelle Perry also kept alive her chances of a share of the jackpot with victory in the 100m hurdles in 12.56.
