Athletics: Powell clocks a 9.77 secs 100m

Asafa Powell equalled the men's 100m world record with a time of 9.77s at a grand prix meeting in Gateshead, England yesterday.

Powell set the world best at Athens a year ago, and it was matched by US Olympic and world champion Justin Gatlin in Doha on May 12.

They are due to clash next in London on July 28.
