Marlborough Sports Awards
Lucy Sheat was named junior sportswoman of the year. In the last 12 months Lucy has won the senior titles in both the 100 and 200 metres at the NZ Secondary Schools Champs, won the Under-20 titles at the NZ Track & Field Champs over the same distances and also claimed the Under-20 200 metres title at the Australian Champs. It is the second consecutive year that she has been named Marlborough junior sportswoman of the year.

Greg Lautenslager received the coach of the year award. World shot put champion Tom Walsh was the guest speaker and among the former winners in attendance were 1972 Olympic 1500m bronze medallist Rod Dixon and his brother John who was a member of New Zealand's 1975 World Championship cross country team.
