38th Annual London Marathon, 22 April: Daniel Wallis 2:19:40 (1st in Club, Charity and Ballot category), Tony Payne 2:21:53 (4), Ciaran Faherty 2:32:58 (49). In the World Para Athletics World Cup Tim Prendergast T13 was tenth and second in his category in 2:45:34.
In the hottest day in London Marathon history Rio Olympic Games gold medallist Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya won the elite section in 2:04:17, from Ethiopias Tola Kitata 2:04:49 and British runner Mo Farah 2:06:21. Vivian Cheruiyot, 5000m gold medallist in Rio won the womens title in 2:18:31 from fellow Kenyan Brigid Kosgei 2:20:13 and Tadelech Bekele of Ethiopia 2:21:40.

OBITUARY
Life Member of Athletics New Zealand Jim Cunningham of Auckland died on Sunday 15 April 2018, aged 87 after suffering from diabetes and in later years blindness.
Jim was a runner, joining the Hutt Valley Harriers in 1946. He served as chairman, coach and delegate to the Wellington Centre. He later joined the Masterton Harriers in 1959 and also served as chairman, coach and delegate and was made a life member of the Club. While on the Wellington Centre Jim was chairman of the cross country and road committee, a selector and managed Wellington teams to national athletic and cross country championships. He was a Wellington delegate to the NZAAA. Jim shifted to Auckland in 1970 and joined the Lynndale Club where he soon became chairman and delegate to the Auckland Centre. He was chairman of the Auckland track and field committee for many years and an official at track and field, cross country and Auckland schools championships at Mt Smart Stadium. He was a timekeeper for the marathon and walks at the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games, an official at the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games and Technical Director Athletics at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games. He was chairman of the organising committee and manager of the 1994 Oceania Championships in Auckland. He managed the New Zealand team to the 1971 International Cross Country Championships in San Sebastian Spain where the womens team were second and the men fourth with Eddie Gray finishing third. Bryan Rose who was 26th spoke at Jims funeral about how well respected Jim was as a manager.
Jim was the IAAF representative to Guam in 1994 to assist with the Micronesian Games.
He was a member of the Athletics New Zealand technical committee for six years and lectured at ANZ coaches school in middle and distance running and was editor of the New Zealand Coaches magazine.
Jim was a life member of Athletics Auckland, received an Athletics New Zealand merit award in 1989 and was made a life member of Athletics New Zealand in 1997.
