National womens 100m champion Zoe Hobbs went within a hundredth of a second of her personal best with a convincing win in a top class race. WELLINGTON
Scottish Night of Miles, Basin Reserve - 7 December 2018
The highlight of the competitive races was the race between Hannah Oldroyd and Deb Lynch. Oldroyd had to resist several attempts by Lynch to get past on the last lap. Each time she refused to cede her lead and held on to win by a very slim margin - both finishing in 5.03. Jessica Hughes was third in 5:26. Keiron Sexton won the men's mile. After opening up a big lead early in the race over the chasing pack he was slowly wound in by a hard-chasing Dougal Thorburn. But, with 200 metres to go and Thorburn right on his shoulder, Sexton found one more gear and won in 4.22. Thorburn recorded 4:25 and Russell Scott was third in 4:27.
The races were held on the road around the perimeter of the Basin Reserve.
