Zane Robertson broke his own New Zealand national 10km road record in winning the prestige event, by nearly a minute, in 27:28. Robertson had shared the previous record of 28:04 with Jonathan Wyatt both times achieved at Chiba Japan, Wyatt in 1996 and Robertson in 2013. Robertson who set a New Zealand 10,000m track record of 27:33.67 at the Rio Olympic Games, led by 12 seconds at half way in 13:49. Awet Habte of Eritrea was second in 28:18 and Nicholas Korir of Kenya third in 28:27. Robertson also set an Oceania record bettering Craig Mottrams record of 27:54.

Chicago Marathon - 9 October 2016
Daniel Wallis debuted over the marathon distance finishing 17th in 2:19:56. Sasha Daniels was 94th in 2:35:04, just a minute outside his PB in the 2014 Auckland marathon. Daniels was 5th in the 40-44 age group. Karen Lockyer was 31st woman in 2:49:40 and 3rd in the 35-39 age group.
Abel Kirui of Kenya, twice world champion in 2009 and 2011 and London Olympic Games silver medallist, won in 2:11:23. Defending champion and former world cross country and half marathon champion Florence Kiplagat of Kenya was the first woman in 2:21:32.
16th Annual Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon - 9 October 2016
Mary Davies battled through heavy rain and blustery winds to finish fifth in 1:17:10. She was through the five miles in 28:15 and the 10 miles in 58:14. Davies has a personal best of 1:11:07 set in Duluth in June 2013 and Kimberley Smith holds the New Zealand record of 1:07:11 run in Philadelphia in September 2011. Mary Wacera of Kenya defended her title in 1:10:19 from Diane Nukuri of Burundi 1:10:52, Valentine Kibet of Kenya 1:14:42 and Heather Cappello of USA 1:15:53. Daniel Salel of Kenya won the race for the second year in 1:03:13.

Throws Spring Series, AUT Millennium, North Shore - 8 October 2016
A number of personal bests were achieved. Mellata Tatola qualified for a New Zealand under 17 3kg hammer throw record with a distance of 58.66m, better than the standard of 56.68m set for a record. Tatola also threw 57.18m with the 3kg hammer and was out to a PB 48.24m with the 4kg hammer and 12.80m 4kg shot put. Connor Bell had PBs in the 5kg SP 15.02m, 1.5kg DT 56.33m, 1.25kg DT 61.37m. Anthony Nobilo 6kg HT 54.67m, 5kg SP 11.55m PB, 5kg HT 62.70m. Stephanie Wrathall runner up in the national javelin throw championship for the last three seasons achieved a personal best of 51.72m. Ella Pilkington 4kg HT 50.37m, Portia Bing 4kg SP 12.64m, Nick Hailes 5kg HT 57.16m, Alexander Parkinson DT 48.39m, Anthony Barmes 5kg HT 51.36m, Aimee Leigh Scott 3kg HT 44.19m, Grace Penberthy 3kg SP 10.90m PB, Savannah Scheen DT 31.42m, 3kg HT 43.28m PB, Luceanne Perks 3kg HT 33.52m PB.
