New Zealand athlete Nick Willis' record run came to an end at a Super Grand Prix meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, yesterday.
He had to settle for ninth place in the 3000m with a time of 7m 45.97s, more than 11s behind the winner, Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia.
That left Willis almost 9s outside the New Zealand national record of 7m 37.49s held by John Walker.
Willis, 22, lowered Walker's NZ record for the 1500m in Paris on Sunday.
