Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Andrea Miller has made a strong comeback following back surgery to win the 100 metres hurdles at the Brisbane Track Classic last night.
Miller, in her first race since the 2010 Delhi Games, finished clear of the field in 13.56 seconds. The New Zealand hurdles champion Fiona Morrison finished send and fellow Kiwi Veronica Torr was fourth.
Australian Sally Pearson, the IAAF female athlete of the year, 100 metres hurdles world champion and Delhi gold medallist, did not contest the hurdles, but won the 100 metres in 11.25 seconds.
The New Zealand men's 4x400 metres relay team of Andrew Whyte, Joseph Millar, Frazer Wickes and Alex Jordan finished second to Australia in 3:09.74, while the 4x100 team featuring Kodi Harman, Millar, Carl Van der Speck and Tama Toki placed four in 40.74 seconds
Wickes, Whyte and Millar went on to place first, third and fourth in the 200 metres B race respectively. Wickes' winning time of 21.47 would have been good enough for third place in the A race and both Wickes and Whyte (21.61) set personal bests by over 0.3 seconds.
