KEY POINTS:

Sprinter Andrea Miller set a New Zealand 100m hurdles record in the first of the Black Singlet series meetings in Dunedin last night.

The 24-year-old competing for Taieri recorded 13.40 seconds at the Caledonian Ground to eclipse the resident women's record of 13.56sec and scrape under the national
record of 13.42sec, both held by Rowena Morton.

Miller is the current New Zealand champion and also won the national title in 2002. Last season she finished second in the Australian championships and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Commonwealth Games.

Another highlight from the meeting was Craig Bearda's sprint double, with times of 10.54sec for the 100m and 21.07sec for 200m.

Anna Smythe of Dundein was sharp over 100m in 11.83sec while Christchurch's Phil Costley ran a fine 3000m in eight minutes 13.01sec.

Melina Hamilton of Christchurch cleared 4.05m in the pole vault and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Angela McKee of Waitakere managed 1.80m in the high jump.
