Peter Martin bettered his own class world record to win a javelin gold medal at the Paralympics world athletics championships in the Netherlands today (NZ time).
Hamilton's Martin, 44, threw 18.58 metres at the Assen event, adding 1.38m to his own F52 world record.
His winning throw came in the sixth, and final, round after he opened with 17.02m, and extended that to 17.82m in round three.
He was more than two metres ahead of second-placed Humaid Almazam of United Arab Emirates.
Martin had earlier finished seventh in the discus throw.
His final event at the championships is the shot put.
Christchurch's Matt Slade won a silver medal in the T37 100m, clocking 12.28 seconds in a race won by Chen Yang of China in a world record 11.79sec.
Slade set a personal best 12.22sec in the heats.
Auckland's Terry Faleava'ai was seventh in the F34 javelin with 20.08m.
