New Zealand athletes produced encouraging results in their final build-up meet for the world youth athletics championships next week.
Sprinters Graeme Read and Kendal Blair recorded personal best times in the 100m and 200m respectively, as did Amanda Gorst in the 2000m track walk, at a meeting at Birmingham High School in California.
Read finished second in 10.96s, while Blair won her race in 25.09s.
Sam Wilson also ran well to win the 400m in 49.16s.
Gorst led from start to finish in the 2000m walk, lowering her personal best by 16s in recording 9m 34.6s.
The world championships begin in Sherbooke, Canada, on Thursday.
