A couple of Kiwis have created a stir in the athletics world, with both Hamish Carson and Julian Oakley breaking the four-minute mile barrier while competing in Boston.
The New Zealand runners finished second and third, respectively, with both managing to cross the line ahead of current Olympic 1500m silver medallist Leo Manzano.
Carson finished in a time of 3m 58.74s while Oakley was right on his tail, coming across in 3:58.89.
Carson has been competing overseas while chasing a qualifying time for the Commonwealth Games, while Oakley, the son of John Oakley and Susan Devoy, is a sophomore on scholarship at Providence College, Rhode Island.
