Former Olympic 1500m champion and world 1000m record holder Noah Ngeny of Kenya has retired from international athletics owing to injuries.
The 28-year-old, whose stunning win over Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj in the men's 1500m was one of the great shocks at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, said he had spent four years trying to recover after fracturing a hip in a 2001 car crash.
