Kiwi shotputter Jacko Gill now knows what it takes to foot it with the big boys.
The 22-year-old threw a new personal best of 21.01 metres over the weekend and has now qualified for August's World Championships and next year's Commonwealth Games.
Gill says when he was younger he got away with just being strong but now has had to go through a re-learning phase.
Gill says he knows what he's got to do to medal in big events and in a time of change it's exciting to see he's already starting to get results.
