Beatrice Faumuina recorded her biggest discus throw in more than two years at the IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Sheffield yesterday.
Her throw measured 65.05m to give her third placing.
Olympic champion Ellina Zvereva, 41, of Belarus, came through from third place to win on her final throw of 66.16m.
Another New Zealand athlete, John Henwood, clocked a disappointing 8m 12.38s in the 3000m.
In Berne, Switzerland, Chris Donaldson clocked 10.62s and Dallas Roberts 10.63s in their 100m heats.
Chantal Brunner cleared 6.35m in the long jump.
