Disgraced runner Liza Hunter-Galvan is set to make her comeback after serving a ban for drugs use.
The former New Zealand representative has entered the Christchurch marathon on Sunday, having completed a two-year suspension for using EPO.
Race organisers were happy to oblige when the United States-based Galvan approached them seeking a place in the marathon field.
Race director Chris Cox told the Dominion Post newspaper the 41-year-old added further interest to a race she won in 1999.
Athletics New Zealand chief executive Scott Newman is also relaxed about Hunter-Galvan's presence.
"She's fine, she has served her time and served her punishment so like any member of the public she is free to run," he said.
